Microhabitat partitioning in a rodent community in the arid conditions of the South-western Caspian Lowland

This article analyses the factors underlying spatial distribution of a rodent community in arid conditions Caspian Lowland. Based on habitat selection model, we hypothesized that sympatric species would occupy and utilize species-specific environmental habitats resources common spaces niche overlap between be low. Thirteen parameters were chosen for study. Nine significantly discriminated interspecies differences (Meriones meridianus occurred dry microhabitats, Meriones tamariscinus wetter Apodemus witherbyi Cricetulus migratorius showed eurybiotic patterns). Mus musculus was predominantly found wet conditions. Thus, A. C. characterized by greatest range niches community, M. narrowest niches. Pairwise comparisons revealed low values.
